The newTRON Business Transformation Program - newTRON is our first major step to achieve our vertical integration-centric strategy, a broad-based operations and business systems transformation that can enable us to meet the foundational requirement of competitive pigment costs. To be the global leader in TiO2, we must adopt a standardized business and technology architecture that elevates business performance, applies the best of TiO2 technology and provides real operations and information technology convergence. This process must take a global view of our operations, reduce costs through standardization and automation, enable operational excellence and ensure our digital capabilities unleash our ability to exploit our global footprint. This crucial project will bridge the gap between where we are today and fully realizing the benefits of standardized processes and operations technologies, and it will impact all aspects of our business, across all layers of technology.

The Scope of the newTRON 1.0 transformation is focused on three key areas, namely:

  • Global end-to-end process design across operations and business functions as well as establishing a Tronox-wide data strategy, master data governance and data cleansing initiative;
  • Operational Transformation including full roll-out at Tronox sites, across all layers of standardized technologies from instrumentation, power & electrical digitalization to control systems, manufacturing execution systems, and implementation of standardized maintenance planning and scheduling processes; and
  • Global greenfield implementation of ERP (SAP S/4HANA) (currently Tronox has multiple SAP and non-SAP ERP systems) and new peripheral business applications to support areas like supply chain optimization, customer relationship management, integrated business planning,  global trade services, logistics planning and execution, human resource management as well as enabling platforms like document management system.

Position Overview

Business Process Modeler is an analyst role responsible for developing the operations business process models conforming to the applicable newTRON standards and agile methodology.  Experience in chemicals and/or mining is preferred with deep subject matter expertise in one or more functional areas.  The role will gather and analyze information from a variety of sources (SMEs, documentation, and technical) to create business process models within the process modeling methodology framework and mapping tool (Orbus iServer). These process models will be used to facilitate organization change management and inform functional requirements for selection and implementation of global standard applications. In addition, the Process Modeler may be expected to facilitate workshops, fact-finding interviews, support project management activities, and other necessary activities to gather and synthesize information into their process models. Also, the process modeler will be expected to produce written documentation and procedures to support their models. In this role, they are expected to have competency as a technical writer and proficient communication skills.

Key Responsibilities 

  • Hands-on development business process models aligning with Tronox’s methodology and tools using information from various sources (direct contact with subject matter experts or global process owner, from workshops or documentation) with no business process gaps or overlaps.
  • Provide functional domain expertise in their selected area in ensuring industry best practice adoption is reflected in the “To Be” state models (Maintenance,  Production Execution, Health & Safety)
  • Facilitate or co-facilitate discussions/workshops among process stakeholders (both technical and non-technical) in order to elicit, analyze, communicate (both written and verbally) and validate process designs, application and reporting requirements
  • Drive the development and implementation of continuous improvement opportunities of processes and systems to improve service delivery and efficiencies
  • Work closely with Global Process Owners to ensure specific operational requirements are met enabling realization of Tronox’s strategies and benefits targeted with the newTRON scope
  • Collaborate with other subject matter experts and Business Analysts globally to ensure appropriate stakeholders are included in the development and revision of process models
  • Conduct process walkthroughs to address process deficiencies, facilitate buy-in and ensure model correctness and completeness
  • Produce written documentation & procedures to support models (i.e. detailed process step definition, meeting maps, KPI reports, role requirements etc.)
  • Development and synthesis of high-quality functional requirements for supporting Technology System selection and configuration within their assign functional area
  • Identification and logging of business process integration points that will need to be addressed or resolved in future business process map developments with other business analysts under the coordination of their respective Business Process Integration Lead
  • Escalate any standards inconsistencies or guidelines clarifications to the BPM quality assurance role
  • Work planning and scheduling to ensure execution of agile sprint methodology is completed on time and to the required standard
  • Assist in establishing timelines and project plans
  • Support the preparation of weekly progress reports escalating issues and risks as required

Technical Skills

  • Ability to develop BPM models from discussions efficiently in a quality assured manner

  • Ability to author functional/system requirements specifications based on process requirements
  • Expert use of process modelling tools (Orbus iServer preferred)

Education and Certifications

  • Bachelor Degree (required) Technical or Engineering considered favorably;
  • TOGAF Certification (required)
  • Association of Business Process Management Professionals International (ABPMP International) - preferred
  • Object Management Group (OMG) BPM Certification (preferred)
  • TOGAF certification (required)

Experience

  • Minimum of 8 years’ experience in heavy chemicals, mineral processing plant projects including deep experience working within a functional area (maintenance, production, Safety, Health, Environment, Quality, capital projects etc)
  • Experience in working with SAP Implementation partners, SAP work processes and/or Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES)
  • Minimum of 8 years’ experience developing BPMN models and process flow diagrams
  • English 1st language proficiency
  • Experience with Agile Scrum (Daily Standup, Sprint Planning and Sprint Retrospective meetings) and Kanban
